So I lost a ton of my artwork recently in a fire, and I'm still really upset about it. I had never found the time to upload all the things I had been creating over the summer, and I had planned to use the scanners here at school to upload them in my free time. All those hours of work were totally incinerated and now I have nothing to show for it.

After first news of the fire I thought I had only lost one whole sketchbook worth of work, but the more I think back, I'm pretty sure I lost 3. Three entire books full of hours of my life that I will never be able to show anyone or be able to take credit for because I goofed around all summer and didn't upload like I should have, and now all trace of them is gone. It's depressing.

The fire also ruined 2 compact, dorm sized refrigerators, a lot of my clothing, videogames, a hamper, and microwave. We have suckish luck, lately.

How did the fire start? Well, it was time for moving back into the dorms here at school and I brought with me just what would fit in my car worth of my and my sister's belongings, which isn't much because I have a tiny compact car. My mother and her boyfriend Don were to bring the larger items such as refrigerators, clothes hampers, stand fans, microwaves, etc.

I didn't bring all my clothes to school, only what I needed for the 5 days till they brought the rest, so i left those in my hamper. I also put 3 sketchbooks in the hamper because I figured they would be fine there just till the next Sunday.

Well, anyway, My mother smokes, and she was smoking while driving the truck full of all our stuff, and throws the cigarette out the window when she finished. Apparently, the wind blew the lighted cigarette butt into the bed of the truck, along with everything. Everything caught fire and my mom was too dumb to realize something was wrong until it ws too late and she looks in the rear view mirror and there is a 4 ft. high blaze in the truck while she's cruising down the freaking highway. HOW DO YOU NOT NOTICE YOUR TRUCK IS ON FIRE LONG ENOUGH FOR THE FIRE TO GET 4 FEET HIGH??? I mean really, people!!!

So anyway, the moral of the story? DON'T THROW CIGARETTES OUT THE WINDOW OF YOUR VEHICLE!!! use the freaking ashtray!!! zomg! Even if you don't drive a truck, or even if you do, but don't have anything in your truck bed at the time so you think it's okay. It's not. Just don't do it. I mean what if you're driving along in your minivan, SUV, sedan, truck with empty bed....whatever... and you chuck a butt out the window and unknowingly to you, the butt lands in someone else's car seat or truck bed and their car catches fire?? It would be your fault, and that would really suck. Karma would get you and you'd live your next life as a dung beetle. And you'd have to live in a place where all the poo is especially rank smelling. Sound like fun? No? Okay then.

On a side note, be wise. never trust ANYONE to transport your things. Especially artwork.
